UMY, March 2nd 2024 – The Supercamp Pilmapres 2024 took place on Saturday, March 2nd 2024, at the 4th Floor of KH Ibrahim Building. The event aimed to equip PILMAPRES Finalists with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their public speaking, presentation, and paper-writing abilities, molding them into outstanding students prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
The Supercamp commenced with a welcoming speech from Mr. Arif Wahyu Setyo Budi, Ns., M.Kep, the Head of CSIC UMY. Mr. Budi set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming challenges and opportunities for the participants. Following the welcoming speech, the participants delved into a dynamic public speaking and presentation training session delivered by Muhammad Yasir Abdad, S.IP. Yasir highlighted the significance of maintaining an appropriate tone during presentations. “Our brains are not designed to catch information in high pitch and tone.” Said Yasir while demonstrating wrong tones that are commonly used by students during presentations. He identified five crucial aspects of effective public speaking: appearance, problem-solving, facing challenges, adopting the right attitude, and upholding ethical standards.
During the interactive session, Yasir invited some finalists to practice their presentation skills in a three-minute timeframe. After a break for lunch and Zuhr prayer, participants reconvened for a photo session. The Supercamp continued with a paper-writing training session led by Afifatul Khoirunnisa from CSIC UMY. Afifatul imparted essential insights on crafting creative idea papers based on the guidelines of the national PILMAPRES competition. Stressing the importance of citations, she encouraged the finalists to include at least one citation in each paragraph to bolster the credibility of their work.
As the paper-writing training concluded, Afifatul reassured the finalists, saying, “Don’t worry, CSIC will accompany you throughout your paper-writing and the PILMAPRES preparation. Fighting, everyone!” Her words served as a motivating send-off, inspiring confidence among the PILMAPRES Finalists as they prepare for the challenges ahead. The Supercamp Pilmapres 2024 proved to be a valuable platform for honing essential skills, fostering a sense of unity among outstanding students, and setting the stage for the journey towards the prestigious PILMAPRES competition.
